STUDENTS

Students are a big part of our church family at St Ebbe’s Headington.

We meet together each week for great community, great food, and a chance to know God better in His Word...

There's lots to get involved in – you’re more than welcome to come along and see what you think!

Lockdown & Winter Semester 2021

In line with current Covid restrictions, all student activities at St Ebbe's Headington are online for the time being.

There's still lots going on! We'd love to meet you, and help you get involved: use the contact form at the bottom of this page to get in touch with the student workers.

Focus.

Worship. Community. Mission.

Each week on a Thursday evening, we dive into God’s Word together in small groups - online or in person, whatever Covid restrictions allow! We get stuck into a Bible passage in groups, studying His Word and spending time with one another.

Some weeks we’ll have a topical talk too, and other weeks we’ll hear from someone in church family as part of our ‘Real Life Stories’ series. A couple of times a year, we run events to give our friends the chance to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.

This semester, we're looking at a number of encounters with Jesus in John’s Gospel. We’ll have front-row seats to people coming face to face with the Lord God in the person of Jesus, and all with the promise that we can see Him face-to-face one day too! You don’t need to have any Bible knowledge or experience to join in, so drop us a line if you’d like to get involved. It’s an amazing set of encounters with Jesus that could change your life…

Explore.

Explore: we are a group of students who want to know what Christianity is all about.

Made up of mostly international students who have come to the UK to study, this group is open to everyone: whether you are a Christian, someone who has no religion, or someone who follows another religion.

Each week we meet and eat a meal together, play games, and look at what the Bible says Christianity is all about. It's a really encouraging time of friendship and fun.

You are welcome if you are interested in finding out about Christianity, or if you just want to make some friends whilst in Oxford.

Whilst it's not possible to meet up in person for Explore at the time being, there's still lots going on: get in touch with Jonnie Green for more information (jonnie.green@friendsinternational.uk).

Getaways.

Student Winter Getaway

Just before the second Oxford Brookes semester starts, we disappear off to the countryside for five days in January. We spend time together in God's word, getting stuck in with some seminars, mulling things over in review groups, and enjoying God’s creation in afternoon activities (and in the bountiful provisions of tea and cake)!

Every year it’s a highlight of the church calendar, and every year students come away saying how much they have delighted in getting to know Jesus and others more!

Sadly, due to Covid-19, it's not possible to host SWG in January 2021.
We can't wait until next year!

May Reading Weeks

In May, we have separate getaways for guys and gals. What better way to celebrate the end of exams and deadlines by finding some sunshine (hopefully) and a beach with a bunch of friends?

We pack in lots: listening some talks, reading a book together, Bible studies, amusing adventures, and top-notch fun! It's always a special week.

In May 2021, we are hoping to host Reading Weeks in person, but will make a decision in line with guidelines closer to the event.

Come and meet one of our student workers or apprentices to hear what goes on in our church family. You can  get in touch with us through the contact form below. We look forward to meeting you!
